DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
Driver Qualifications / Potential Disqualifiers
In order to become a driver with M2GT, you must meet certain minimum requirements. You must first have a Commercial Driver’s License and a Self-Certified Medical card. All drivers must complete an online application for review of their driving record.
- Current CDL
- Must be able to communicate/read English without issue
- 6 months of commercial driving experience collectively in the last 2 years -or- 1 year collectively in the last 5 years (tractors only)
- Willing and able to travel to all 48 states (Canada and 5 Burroughs of NYC are optional)
- Have a current DOT medical card (with expiration prior to 30 days) MedCard must be certified to the MVR (non-excepted intrastate) and it must be performed by a doctor on the registry. Pass a DOT drug screening
- Cannot currently be a SAP program participant – if completed SAP must have completed 5 years or more prior to application date
- Cannot accept prohibited drivers from Clearinghouse reporting – ( refusal to submit to a CH test depicted on reports = 5 year DQ )
- Have a clean driving record with NO citation or conviction of more than 2 moving violations during a 36 month (3 year) period prior to application (more below)
- Have a clean driving record with NO citation or conviction of more than 5 moving violations during a 60 month (5 year) period prior to application (more below)
- NO more than 1 preventable accidents, or more than 1 preventable accident and 1 moving violation in any combination. ( 3 year / 36 month period prior to application date)
- Cannot have a seatbelt violation in the 12 months prior to application date – “ Failing to properly wear a seatbelt in a CMV, whether as a driver or as a passenger” ( 1 year DQ )
- Cannot have a cell phone violation within the 12 months prior to application date – “Using a hand-held mobile telephone or texting, while driving a CMV” (1 year DQ )
- Show NO record of DUI/DWI within the past 5 years
- No Felony charge(s) within the past 7 years (more serious charges may have different requirements)
• If there is a prior felony, everything must be done and over for 7 years. (Probation, incarceration etc)
- No misdemeanor charges within the last 3 years
- Cannot qualify if currently on parole/probation or supervised release
- When VOE conducted (verification of experience/employment) : Should a previous employer describe any at fault incident from the driver (ex : driver scraped unit with a dumpster) although this isn’t an “accident” any incident where the driver is proven to be at fault will be viewed with the same weight as an accident. These are incidents in which we have to review driving patterns/behaviors and could potentially put applicant over safety policy and disqualify them.
During the 12 months (1 year) prior to application date :
- “ Failing to properly wear a seatbelt in a CMV, whether as a driver or as a passenger” ( 1 year DQ )
- Cannot have a cell phone violation within the 12 months prior to application date – “Using a hand-held mobile telephone or texting, while driving a CMV” (1 year DQ )
During the 36 months (3 year) prior to application date :
- Have a clean driving record with NO citation or conviction of more than 2 moving violations during a 36 month (3 year) period prior to application
- NO more than 1 preventable accidents, or more than 1 preventable accident and 1 moving violation in any combination.
- Operating a vehicle without a valid license : includes driving while suspended/expired/revocation or cancellation (excludes violations with not have license in possession)
- Offenses resulting in a DL being suspended for 30 days or more due to moving violations
- Speeding violations that are 15mph over or more (CMV or Non-CMV) ( 3 year DQ )
- Falsifying any document related to DOT compliance
- Transporting unauthorized passengers
- “False Record of Duty Status” violation listed on PSP within the last 36 months and is listed as an Out of Service Violation as indicated by the PSP (3 year DQ)
During the 60 months (5 year) prior to application date
- Have a clean driving record with NO citation or conviction of more than 5 moving violations during a 60 month (3 year) period prior to application
- Operating any vehicle while unlawfully under the influence of alcohol, drugs or controlled substances; ( no DUI/DWI within the last 5 years)
- Failure to submit to or pass drug, controlled substance or alcohol testing mandated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) or requested by any law enforcement official in connection with the operation of any vehicle;
- Failure to stop or remain at the scene of an accident in connection with the operation of any vehicle;
- Failure to yield to a school bus while operating any vehicle and causing an accident
- Failure to yield for a railroad crossing while transporting hazardous materials in a CMV
- Fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement official in any vehicle
- Using any vehicle in connection with the commission of a felony
